Experience
Presently I am a counselor for low-income students with disabilities in Montgomery County. My goal is to use my experience working for The White House and U.S. Senator Tom Harkin to make history come alive! For over ten years I've privately tutored students of all ages, with a focus on High School special needs students studying english and history. My tutoring focuses on first understanding a student's individual learning goals, learning about the studying techniques they've already tried, identifying their learning style strengths and challenges, discussing what excites them most about the subject matter, and developing assignments combining book lessons with field trips focusing on history in their community. I received my BA in Politics from The Catholic University of America in D.C., and am especially well educated in U.S. History and American Government. I excelled at AP U.S. History in school and have received numerous awards for work in the field of history and political science, including a National History Day national award. I am generally available for tutoring every day from 9am to 9pm and can travel to students or meet them online. My base rate is $20/hr, with a very flexible cancellation policy and discount packages.
