Private tutor in Silver Spring, MD
Education
University of Florida - Bachelors, Environmental Science
Experience
Before becoming a tutor, I attended the University of Florida, where I graduated with a degree in environmental science, with an agricultural and natural resource ethics and policy minor. I now tutor younger students in both math and Spanish. Since Spanish is my first language, I am able to offer special insight into speaking it that learners might not find elsewhere. I hold a belief that it is very important to learn a second language in the United States because of how diverse the country is.My teaching philosophy centers on the idea that today's children will soon become the country's leaders and, therefore, they must receive a good education. Every learner has his or her own unique style of learning and, therefore, it is vital that I adapt my teaching methods based on the student. These children will soon become the decision makers in this country and it is up to teachers and tutors to ensure that they have a grasp on the material that is being presented. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy traveling, music, meeting new people, experiencing different cultures, and trying a variety of foods. I am also very proud of the fact that I was a member of both the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) and the Golden Key International Honor Society.
