I approach tutoring as the spark that will light the flame and inspire the desire for further learning. While I think that getting a student to a passing level is important, even more important to me is the moment when understanding takes hold and the student acquires the skills for future problem solving and critical thinking. I believe myself to be extremely fortunate that I have had wonderful educators throughout my life, and this is the same experience that I wish my students to have as well. I teach with humor and fun because I believe the best learning takes place when students are enjoying themselves and what they are learning. I have a strong foundation with tutoring others, beginning four years ago with my first job helping under-privileged children prepare for the SAT and understand the college admissions process better. To me, the best part about tutoring is helping students overcome their preconceived notions of what they can and cannot do. My degree is in International Relations and Spanish. I currently reside in Silver Springs, Maryland and specialize in essay writing, grammar and mechanics, literature, Spanish, American History, European History, and ACT preparation.
