I enjoy helping children and teens who are challenged to meet academic requirements, and am experienced in tutoring foster children in particular. It is always rewarding and I learn a great deal in the process. Especially given the demands of today's fast-paced social and academic environments, I feel my background in psychology and availability to listen well and convey my respect for the kids I work with enables me to bond easily and facilitate learning and integration of the material. Relevant classes include all those in developmental, social, and clinical psychology. I also worked as a writer/editor for a government contractor specializing in contracts with the U.S. Department of Education and was engaged in reviewing numerous publications about the efficacy of teaching styles and methods. I have been asked to teach and tutor parents in my foster agency as well.
