I believe that education should give students the tools to set and meet the goals they set for themselves, which is why I tutor students in mathematics. I have two degrees, one in mathematics from the UK, and a bachelor's degree with honors in statistics. I have worked in economic research and data analysis, as well as software support and systems analysis, which are a few of the real-world careers that a solid understanding of mathematics can provide. Even in the day to day, an understanding of math helps everyone navigate the consumer market, as well as technology. As a tutor, I've taught math in many different situations, from high school dropouts to a program sponsored by No Child Left Behind. I can and have helped students who initially dropped out of high school receive all the credits they needed to graduate, when math may be one of the more difficult subjects for these students. However, my approach to tutoring serves to help the student understand this difficult subject and receive their high school credits. Not only do I enjoy mathematics as a profession, but I enjoy the subject in my personal life as well, especially working with technology. I am also a sports enthusiast, and I love to watch football, basketball, tennis, and volleyball.
